Meshell Ndegeocello a renoué avec l'écriture et la composition pendant les confinements, proposant ainsi ses 18 titres originaux au label Blue Note pour un nouveau chapitre de son récit créatif. Une aventure que l'insaisissable pionnière du mouvement néo-soul a débuté en 1993 avec 'Plantation Lullabies' et depuis, sans cesse réinventé sa musique avec une dizaine d'albums et des collaborations avec Madonna, Basement Jaxx, Robert Glasper, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Chaka Khan, Marc Ribot ou encore Ibeyi. Ce nouvel album, c'est un peu de moi, mes voyages. < J'ai fait mon premier disque quand j'avais 22 ans, c'était il y a plus de 30 ans, j'ai accumulé beaucoup de choses que j'ai envie de partager aujourd'hui. 'The Omnichord Real Book' parle de la façon dont on peut voir les vieilles choses d'une nouvelle manière > explique Meshell.
